Call for Papers is now closedThe newly established Centre for Growth and Business Cycle Research at the University of Manchester is planning to hold its inaugural conference on 6th-8th July 2000. The general aim of the conference is to cover recent developments in the study of growth and business cycles from both theoretical and empirical perspectives, and to foster new initiatives based on greater integration between growth theory and business cycle analysis on the one hand, and between macroeconomic theorists and applied econometricians on the other. The Conference will be unique in the UK and distinct from other meetings, and should be of interest to both academic economists and policy makers alike. The conference will be held at Chancellors Conference Centre in Manchester which offers superior conference facilities. Invited speakers at the conference include Costas Azariadis (UCLA), Jean-Pierre Danthine (Université de Lausanne), Huw Dixon (University of York), Clive Granger (UCSD), Simon Potter (Federal Reserve Bank, New York), Morten Ravn (LBS), Timo Teräsvirta (Stockholm School of Economics) and Fabrizio Zilibotti (Institute for International Economic Studies, Stockholm University). The conference program can be downloaded the program in PDF format. The conference is now fully booked. We are grateful for financial support for the conference from the Bank of England, the British Academy, the Royal Economic Society and the University of Manchester.
